I like drawing Melfina, and over Spring Break I decided, "Hey . . . I'll draw Melfina looking all angelic! W00t!". The background didn't really come out the way I expected, but oh well. I tried some new shading techniques, especially with the hair and wings, thanks to .
I can't seem to get my line-art to look all neat and clean -- it always ends up sketchy and blobby since I use a regular pen. Does anyone have any tips on achieving ultra smooth line-art?
Well even if you don't like it, the background has a nice dramatic feel for meee. The wingies came out lovely~
(Actually, I would give you some advice on improving your lines, but I have the exact same problem- I think some of the lines just get mauled in the scanning and/or in the conversion-to-JPEG process) Often I've resorted to a 0.5mm mechanical pencil to get smooth lines. The trade-off, though, is the scan is very light and when you're drawing you run the risk of smudging your pencil lead, which you then have to erase (either on the paper or in the computer!).
The other alternative is to use vector line tools. Something I should be looking into..... ^~
Love the wings and the concept. Great Mel art! 10/10
